Introducing three new Cool Ash Brunette shades—Mocha Latte, Hazelnut Mousse, and Toasted Almond—created to expand our brunette color assortment with the cooler, more dimensional tones you’ve been asking for.

Inspired by salon color trends, each shade blends cool brown undertones with subtle highlights and a soft shaded root for realistic dimension without harsh contrast or excessive warmth.

Available in 37 bestselling styles, which include 3 exclusive to Shops & Salons, the Cool Ash Brunette color expansion makes it easy to find a cool-toned brunette shade across human hair, synthetic, and Heat-Friendly synthetic fibers.

4/10S4 | Mocha Latte is a blended dark brown with medium brown highlights and a soft shaded root. This cool-toned brunette creates natural-looking dimension while maintaining a rich, sophisticated depth.

5/8S4 | Hazelnut Mousse is a blended medium brown with light brown highlights and a dark brown shaded root. Cool undertones and subtle dimension create a natural, salon-inspired brunette with a soft, lived-in finish.

6B/22S6 | Toasted Almond is a blended medium brown with light brown highlights and a medium brown shaded root. The cool-toned base and delicate highlights add understated dimension for a natural, modern brunette look.

The same color can look slightly different depending on the fiber it’s created in. With our Cool Ash Brunettes, you’ll notice that the same color codes across synthetic, Heat-Friendly synthetic, and human hair fibers have their own unique dimension, depth, and tonal variation based on how each reflects and absorbs light.

For the most accurate representation of a color, always refer to the actual color swatch in the fiber you’re considering.

Ever wondered what all those numbers and letters in a Jon Renau color code mean? Each part of the code gives you a closer look at how a shade is built, from its underlying color family to its shaded root.

Mocha Latte | 4/10S4

In Jon Renau color codes, a slash ‘/’ indicates an equal blend. Therefore 4/10 combines an equal blend of two varying shades from the brown color family to create a dark, dimensional appearance. S4 indicates a shaded root in the color 4. Jon Renau uses “S” to identify shaded root colors, with the number following the S indicating the root color.

Hazelnut Mousse | 5/8S4

5/8 also uses an equal blend of brown shades, but with an overall lighter appearance than Mocha Latte, while S4 indicates a shaded root in color 4. Together, the code represents a medium brunette blend with a deep shaded root.

Toasted Almond | 6B/22S6

6B is a blend of a few colors in the brown color family, while 22 belongs to the blonde family. The S6 indicates a lighter shaded root in color 6 compared to the other two shades.

Cool-toned brunette shades require a little extra attention when caring for human hair. Because the color is created using a textile-like dye applied to the hair, repeated exposure to warm or hot water can cause the color to fade more quickly over time.

For human hair: Always shampoo and rinse with cold or cool running water to help preserve the color and maintain the cool-toned dimension of your shade. Avoid hot water, which can accelerate color fading.

For synthetic and Heat-Friendly synthetic (HD) hair: Continue following your usual Jon Renau care routine. Because the color is inherent to the synthetic fiber rather than applied as a textile-like dye, these fibers are not subject to the same type of color fading as human hair.
