SYNTHETIC WIG CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Synthetic Hair Care

WE RECOMMEND WASHING YOUR ALTERNATIVE HAIR EVERY 6-8 WEARS

HOW TO CLEANSE & CONDITION A SYNTHETIC HAIR WIG

1. Before washing your wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles using your Jon Renau Paddle Brush or Jon Renau Wide Tooth Comb
2. Wet hair completely using cool running water.
3. Gently lather the hair with a small amount of Jon Renau Synthetic Shampoo, making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling.
4. Rinse thoroughly under cool running water until water runs clear.
5. Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry.
6. Spray with Jon Renau Conditioning Spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from base of wig or hairpiece. Do not rinse out the conditioner.
7. Gently detangle hair using your Wide Tooth Comb.

HOW TO DRY AND STYLE SYNTHETIC HAIR WIG

1.  Allow wig or hairpiece to air dry naturally by placing on a plastic or wire wig stand. DO NOT blow-dry.
2. For mid-length to long length styles, apply HD Smooth Detangling Spray, (3-5 pumps) focusing on the bottom half of the wig or hairpiece. Gently comb through using your Wide Tooth Comb.
3. We recommend using your fingertips or wig brush/comb for your desired style.
4. To add texture and definition, use a small amount of Piece Out Contour Fiber Crème and apply using fingertips.
5. Do NOT use heat to style a synthetic fibre wig. (curling irons, flat irons or blow dryers)

SYNTHETIC HAIR WIG TIPS

1. Be cautious when standing near a heat source (i.e. open oven, heater, etc.) Excessive heat can damage the fibre.
2. We recommend using HD Smooth Detangling Spray with a wide-tooth comb to detangle your synthetic wig. This is especially important with a mid-length to long-length wig or hairpiece.

JON RENAU RECOMMENDS PERFORMING A CHECK WASH ON ANY HUMAN HAIR SYSTEM WITHIN 14 DAYS OF RECEIPT

DO A CHECK WASH FIRST

1. Before washing your human hair wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles using your Jon Renau Paddle Brush.
2. Wet hair completely using cool running water. Comb through hair with your fingers several times.
3. If no signs of tangling/matting* occur, continue to cleanse and condition while checking for excessive tangling as you go
4. If you do notice excessive tangling/matting, it may be a sign of inversion; contact your retailer or manufacturer immediately*Tangling/matting that occurs after months of wear is due to improper care

HOW TO CLEANSE & CONDITION A HUMAN HAIR WIG

1. Before washing your human hair wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles using your Paddle Brush.
2. Gently lather the hair with a small amount of Argan Smooth Luxury Shampoo, while making sure that the hair is travelling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling.
3. Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear.
4. Apply Argan Smooth Luxury Conditioner, avoiding the base of the wig or hairpiece. (applying conditioner to the base/cap may weaken the knots)
5. Using your fingers, work the conditioner through mid-lengths and ends for 3-5 minutes.
6. Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear.

HOW TO DRY & STYLE A HUMAN HAIR WIG

1. Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat to remove excess water.
2. Gently remove any tangles using your Paddle Brush.
3. Allow the cap to dry completely before applying to a canvas blockhead.
4. Dampen hair again and apply a small amount of Blown Away Blow Dry Balm; distribute evenly throughout the hair, keeping away from the base.
5. Starting at the nape, work in 2″ sections using your Jon Renau Round Boar-Bristle brush and blow-dry each section completely.
6. Use medium-high heat on full power to blow dry hair. Use the “cool shot” button to lock in style.
7. Human hair WIGS must be dried and styled after washing. Air-drying will leave the hair ‘un-polished and can trap water in the hair causing frizzing.

FURTHER HAIR CARE TIPS

1. It is recommended to use professional-grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat.
2. Your styling tools should be set no higher than 350°F (176°C)to help maintain the integrity of the hair.
3. When curling your human hair, you can use small metal clips to hold each curl while cooling for a tighter, longer-lasting curl. For a looser, more natural-looking curl, allow curls to hang while cooling

HOW TO MAKE YOUR HAIR SMOOTH & SLEEK

Apply Blown Away Blow Dry Balm and blow dry each section in a downward motion to smooth hair.
Apply Heat Treatment Argan Mist throughout (3-5 pumps), keeping away from the base. Use Heat Treat to protect each section and flat iron smooth.

how to add Volume to your human hair wig

Apply Blown Away Blow Dry Balm to add volume to your human hair wig. Distribute evenly throughout hair. Start at nape and work in 2″ vertical sections, using a round boar-bristle brush. For optimal volume, blow dry by over-directing hair.

How to Add Volume and Texture to a Human Hair Wig

Apply Blown Away Blow Dry Balm, and then liberally spray Boho Beach Mist throughout damp hair. Distribute evenly throughout hair. Diffuse hair
until completely dry for added volume and texture.

HOW TO CLEANSE & CONDITION YOUR HD WIG?

1. Before washing, gently remove any tangles using your Jon Renau Wide Tooth Comb ONLY.
2. Wet hair completely using cool running water.
3. Gently lather the hair with a small amount of Jon Renau Synthetic Shampoo, making sure that the hair is travelling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair; this will cause tangling.
4. Rinse thoroughly under cool running water until water runs clear.
5. Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry.
6. Gently detangle hair using a Wide Tooth Comb.
7. Spray with Leave-In Conditioning Spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from the base.

HOW TO DRY & STYLE A HD WIG?

1. Allow wig or hairpiece to air dry naturally by placing it on a plastic or wire wig stand. Do NOT blow dry.
2. Air drying your wig will give the best results. The fibre will dry fastest; be sure the cap is completely dry before wearing, storing, or displaying.
3. Apply HD Smooth Detangling Spray, (3-5 pumps) focusing on the bottom half of the wig or hairpiece. Gently comb through using your Wide Tooth Comb.
4. ONLY the Jon Renau wide tooth comb is used on your HD fibre. Other tools will cause frizzing/tangling.
5. HD fibre can withstand heat up to 350° F, however, Jon Renau recommends working at 270°-280° F.
6. It is recommended to use professional-grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat.

HOW TO CURL & FLAT IRON A HD WIG?

1. Heat your curling or flat iron to 270°-280° F.
2. Using your Jon Renau Wide Tooth Comb, gently comb hair free of tangles.
3. Starting at the nape, take ½ inch-1.5 inch sections of hair. (smaller sections=tighter curls, larger sections=looser curls)
4. Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fibre. (1-2 pumps per section)

TIPS ON HOW TO CURL AN HD WIG

1. Gather hair into curling iron, smooth through to the ends. Roll iron up towards the base of the wig or hairpiece, staying 1-2 inches away.
2. Hold for 10-15 seconds, then turn the tip of iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of the hand.
3. Holding curl in one hand, gather up towards base and secure curl with a small metal clip. (like a pin curl)
4. Allow curl to cool completely (about 5 minutes); remove the clip and let curl hang naturally.

HOW TO FLAT IRON A HD WIG?

1. Starting at the nape, take ½ inch-1.5 inch sections.
2. Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fibre. (1-2 pumps per section)
3. Slowly smooth the flat iron down through the ends; keep hair smooth by following behind the flat iron with your Wide Tooth Comb.
4. Allow hair to hang naturally and cool completely.

EVEN MORE HAIR CARE TIPS

All synthetic fibres can tangle and frizz with wear. It is important that the frizz is corrected early to avoid permanent damage to the fibre. Use your flat iron to smooth any frizz before washing

1. We recommend using HD Smooth Detangling Spray with a Jon Renau Wide Tooth Comb DAILY to detangle your HD wig. This is especially important with the mid-length to long-length HD wigs or hairpieces.
2. We offer HD Smooth in a convenient 2oz. size for travel.
3. Allow your HD wig to air dry naturally instead of blow-drying to help maintain the integrity of the fibre.
4. Help protect the fibre against heat damage by using Heat Treat Thermal Spray when using heat styling tools.
5. To add texture and definition, use a small amount of Piece Out Contour Fiber Crème and apply using fingertips.
